R105D Series Radio Manpacks

The R105D series of radios were manufactured from the early 1950’s. There are four main variants which cover the frequencies used by the four main arms of the Soviet army (see frequency table on the left). It is only possible to tell the 4 types apart by either examining the frequency display or by the model number plate on the unit itself.

The radios are ruggedly made from aluminium bodies. Valve technology only is used in the ‘D’  models and gives a power output of 1 watt. An external amplifier is available.

The unit is supplied in a wooden shipping crate secured inside by a metal frame, this frame also doubles as the vehicle mount.

The unit has 4 preset frequencies and the ability to continuously tune across its frequency range. The units operate in FM mode only.

Each set was issued with a cushioned carrying back and straps as well as a spares kit containing both the Kulikov antenna and the long wire type.
